Steve Petersen - Poet Partner
“What do children need to help them make the right choices?” One answer, “The Poet Tree” created in 1994 at the Palapas Garden Artist Center in Palm Springs CA described as ‘positive, enchanting, inspiring, and divine’. Most recently created in the garden at Cielo Vista School.
After September 11, 2001 it was the thoughts of his heroic friends from high school who served and died in Viet Nam and a prophetic English teacher Mr. Desimone proclaiming Steve’s ability to write poetry that inspired his first poem turned into a song, “These Colors Don’t Run”. The song became part of a national radio program “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and opened the door for his first grand scale performance, opening for Eric Burdon and The Animals at the world famous Coach House on New Year’s Eve 2002.
Steve has appeared on television, in movies, on stage, in musical productions, documentaries, and lends his time to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, military bases, VFW events, and Variety Club International. He has published a novel, “Healer”.
Recently he formed Steve Petersen Productions clearly stating his devotion with this mission statement: “There is a certain passion and desire to express ones self in the experience of poetry, music, theater, and art. Providing children of all ages with the opportunity and awareness to express themselves in a positive creative form and give them strength to say no to destructive forms of communication is the goal of Steve Petersen Productions and The Poet Tree”.
